Completing The Mission

Jesus was committed to His mission to “Seek and Save the Lost” (Luke 19:10)…but what about us? Can we confidently say that we are doing everything we can to reach people with the Gospel of Christ? Concerning His own ministry, Jesus said:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19)

Jesus can bring liberation, healing and freedom to the world. It is unconscionable to think that we would keep the availability of these amazing blessings to ourselves, but that is what we do when we do not share His mission.

There were those during Jesus’ day who wanted to keep Him for themselves, in Luke 4:42 it reads, “When day came, Jesus left and went to a secluded place; and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from going away from them”. Jesus, however, would not give in to their demands, there were others who needed to be blessed. In response to their desire for Him to stay, Jesus declares:

“I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose”…So He kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea” (Luke 4:43-44)

Jesus was on a mission to “Seek and Save the Lost”. Let us pray that we are on that same mission.
