We are not always going to be in agreement with God. There are going to be times that our human wisdom says one thing and God’s wisdom says another. It is in times like these that we must humbly follow God and not “lean upon our own understanding”.
In Luke 6:46 Jesus asks this question, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?”. If we are going to dare call Jesus “Lord” (which is the equivalent to calling Jesus our “Master”), we must be willing to do what our Master/Jesus says even when we don’t want to.
There are going to be times when we don’t want to follow God. During those times we must trust God and His logic even when it goes against our “logic”. We trust our Heavenly Father because he loves us, and knows and wants what is best for us.
So even when we disagree, like the song says, we still “Trust and Obey”.
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
