Jesus is Our Why!

“...it’s often difficult to do something exceptionally well if we don’t know the reasons we’re doing it in the first place. People at work are thirsting for context, yearning to know that what they do contributes to a larger whole. And a powerful way to provide that context is to spend a little less time telling how and a little more time showing why” (Daniel Pink - Drive).

Our “why” is what gives our “how” meaning. The reason we give, the reason we preach, worship and sacrifice are all rooted in the Jesus. Jesus is our “why”, Jesus gives our life meaning. When we begin to learn about Jesus we begin to learn how His ways are better, more sensible and will result in a beneficial outcome for us and others.

Christianity is so much more than “do this” and “don’t do that”…Christianity works, Christianity makes sense! When you understand this fact, and understand that you are a part of a work bigger than yourself, you can’t help but find meaning and drive.

Most sociologists agree, that the key to living a fulfilled life is doing things that offer autonomy, mastery and a sense of purpose. There is no greater purpose than serving Jesus! This is a “why” that should drive all that we say and do.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:4-8)
